What to include

  • Your system: macOS, Windows, or Linux, and its version.
  • Your Lugas version. It’s in Settings → About.
  • What you did, what you expected, and what happened instead. The exact error message helps most.
  • The model you used, if the problem is with an analysis.

Diagnostics

For harder problems, a diagnostics folder helps a lot:

  1. Open Settings → About.
  2. Choose Export diagnostics, then pick a folder.
  3. Lugas saves a dated “Lugas diagnostics” folder there. Zip it and attach it to your email.

You can also press ⌘K (macOS) or Ctrl+K (Windows, Linux) and type “Export diagnostics”.

The folder holds the app’s logs, version and system details, your settings, how far setup got, and counts like takes analyzed and error codes. Keys are removed. Your display name and device IDs are left out. It never includes recordings, transcripts, notes, take titles, or topics. Nothing is sent until you send it yourself, so you can open it and check first.

Setup

How do I connect my OpenRouter account?

Lugas analyzes takes with your own OpenRouter account. During setup, the Connect your AI step gives you two ways:

  • Connect OpenRouter. Your browser opens OpenRouter. Sign in or sign up, then choose Authorize. Lugas gets the key and comes back to the front.
  • Paste a key instead. Create a key at openrouter.ai/settings/keys, copy it, and paste it. Lugas checks it right away.

Either way, you’ll need credit on OpenRouter. Add it at openrouter.ai/settings/credits. A few dollars lasts a long time: the app shows the estimated cost of each take before you analyze it. We suggest setting a spending limit on the key.

If you skipped this step, go to Settings → AI provider and models, paste your key, and choose Save and test.

My key was rejected

OpenRouter didn’t accept it. Usually part of the key was cut off when copying. Copy it again, all of it, and paste it in Settings → AI provider and models. If it still fails, create a new key on OpenRouter and use that.

Analysis failed, or it says I have no credit

  • “Your OpenRouter credits have run out.” Top up at openrouter.ai/settings/credits, then analyze again. Your take is saved and waits for you.
  • “Couldn’t reach OpenRouter.” Check your internet connection and try again.
  • Rate limited, or OpenRouter isn’t responding. Wait a minute and try again, or try the fallback model.
  • “This model can’t take this request.” Pick another model, or switch back to the recommended one.

If the same error keeps coming back, export diagnostics and send them to us.

Is my key safe?

The key is encrypted with your system’s secure storage (macOS Keychain, Windows DPAPI, or the Linux keyring). It’s only used to call OpenRouter from your computer. It’s never logged, never included in backups or diagnostics, and never sent to us. More in the Privacy Policy.

Permissions and first launch

Lugas can’t hear me or see me (macOS)

  1. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone (or Camera for video takes).
  2. Turn on Lugas.
  3. Go back to Lugas and choose Try again. If it still doesn’t work, quit and reopen Lugas.

On Windows, open Settings → Privacy & security → Microphone (or Camera), and turn on both access and Let desktop apps access your microphone (or camera). On Linux there’s usually no prompt. If recording fails, check that no other app is using the device.

macOS says it can’t open Lugas

Beta builds aren’t signed by Apple yet, so macOS blocks the first launch.

  • macOS 15 and later: double-click Lugas once, then go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and choose Open Anyway.
  • macOS 14 and earlier: right-click Lugas, choose Open, then Open again.

After that, it opens normally.

macOS asks for my password for “Lugas Safe Storage”

That’s the Keychain item that protects your key. Enter your login password and choose Always Allow. With beta builds, this can come back after each update.

Windows says “Windows protected your PC”

The beta installer isn’t signed yet. Choose More info, then Run anyway.

Linux warns about my keyring

Lugas needs a keyring (gnome-keyring or KWallet) to store the key safely. Install or turn one on and restart Lugas. Or turn on Forget the key when Lugas quits, and paste the key again each time you open the app.

Licenses and refunds

Where do I enter my license key?

Lugas is in private beta, so there’s no license key yet. When Lugas goes on sale, you’ll buy it on Gumroad and get your license key there.

How many computers can I use?

Up to 3, once licenses start. If you’ve used all 3 and need to move to a new computer, contact us and we’ll reset it.

Can I get a refund?

Refunds go through Gumroad and follow the policy on the Gumroad product page.

Your data

Where are my recordings?

On your computer, in the Lugas data folder. Open it from Settings → Storage → Open data folder. To move to another computer, use Settings → Storage → Export, then Import on the new one. Your key isn’t included, so you’ll connect OpenRouter again there.
